About David Angel

David has been a professional photographer and art director since the late 1990s. He took up photography in order to document his travels around the Middle East, and to complement his travel writing. Things developed quickly, and within a few months of picking up his first second hand 35mm SLR he made his first sales.

Soon afterwards his work was rewarded with assignments for the likes of Visit Britain and Wales Tourist Board, and he moved on to become commissioning editor and art director for another major national tourism body.

He has travelled extensively around Europe over the last decade or so, although he has now begun spending more time in his wife Faye's home country, Australia.

He continues to sell his work prolifically through a number of stock agencies worldwide. His photography has been published in the UK in the likes of the Guardian, Observer, Independent, Times and Western Mail. In addition, his images have been used worldwide in a huge range of products, from advertising campaigns and exhibition stands to calendars and brochures to guidebooks, and food packaging to mobile phone screen savers.

David still prefers shooting medium format film to digital, even if it means a 100 mile round trip to the nearest processing lab, although he now works in both media.

He and Faye currently live in Cardiff, South Wales.
